About Subculture Wiki
Subculture Wiki is a small, plain-spoken reference on the fashion, history, music, and identity of working-class and youth subcultures: skinheads, mods, punks, rude boys, casuals, and the scenes that grew up around and between them.
The aim is simple. Treat these movements with genuine interest and without either gawking at them from the outside or gatekeeping them from the inside. Where a subculture carries political or social weight, say so honestly, as history rather than advocacy, and resist flattening diverse movements into stereotypes. Skinheads were never one thing. Punk was never one thing.
Articles are written to be read by people who arrived with a specific question, so they get to the point, stay specific about era and place, and link out to related topics where it helps.
If you spot an error, the site is a work in progress and corrections are welcome.
